30 under 40: A New CESAR Initiative Giving Voice to the Next Generation of Safety Science
CESAR – Centre of Excellence for Safety Research is preparing a new initiative dedicated to the next generation of researchers in safety science. Starting in October 2026, 30 under 40 will bring together 30 outstanding scientists and researchers under the age of 40 to share their research, ideas, perspectives, and vision for the future of the field.
The initiative will create a space for live online conversations, expert talks, and Q&A sessions, giving emerging researchers an opportunity to present their work while connecting with colleagues and audiences across the international scientific community.
At the heart of 30 under 40 is a simple idea: to give young scientific voices the floor. By highlighting new perspectives, research approaches, and emerging topics, the series aims to encourage discussion, strengthen international connections, and support a new generation of researchers who will help shape the future of safety science.
The initiative also looks beyond individual conversations. Through a growing network of researchers and shared ideas, 30 under 40 will contribute to building momentum within the safety-science community towards ISHPMIE 2030 in Ostrava.
The concept is organized by CESAR colleagues Stefan Spitzer, Sven Eckart, Enrico Danzi, Vojtěch Jankůj, and Ernesto Salzano, combining their expertise and commitment to supporting scientific exchange, collaboration, and the visibility of emerging researchers.
We look forward to introducing the researchers, their stories, and the questions that are shaping the future of safety science.
