CESAR launches Explosioneers.eu

CESAR has launched Explosioneers.eu, an online research network built around explosion and process-safety science.

At its core, the platform offers an interactive map of partner universities, organisations, and events, paired with a discussion forum where researchers can collaborate on projects and share findings.

The site is hosted by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB-TUO) in the Czech Republic, one of the leading technical universities in Central Europe, and positions itself as the direct successor to the Young Emerging Scientists Network founded by Dr. Chris Cloney.

For registered members, the platform goes a step further: logging in unlocks direct contact details for the scientists and institutions in the network. This makes it a practical tool for students and early-career researchers scoping out where to spend a year abroad, since it lets them see which partner universities and labs are active in the field and reach out to the people working there directly.

It also functions as a way to stay current on emerging trends in safety research more broadly – from combustible dust and industrial explosion hazards to related process-safety topics – by surfacing what partner institutions and events across the network are currently focused on.

In short, Explosioneers works less like a static informational website and more like a living directory and community hub for the international explosion-safety research community, aimed at connecting the next generation of scientists in the field with established labs, mentors, and collaborators across Europe and beyond.
