CESAR at Researchers’ Night 2026
On 25 September 2026, CESAR – Centre of Excellence for Safety Research took part in Researchers’ Night 2026 at the Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. The nationwide event brought science closer to children, adults, and everyone interested in discovering research through demonstrations and hands-on experience.
This year’s theme, Communication, provided an ideal opportunity to present safety research in an accessible and engaging way. Visitors could explore CESAR’s work on hydrogen safety and experimental research through the activities “What Happens When… Hydrogen?” and “Science Goes Boom Here!”.
The programme included a presentation of a hydrogen-powered vehicle, demonstrations related to ignition and explosions, and footage from large-scale experiments focused on fires, explosions, and pressure-system failures. Visitors could also take part in a hydrogen-car quiz, children’s activities, a themed photo spot, and other interactive demonstrations.
Researchers’ Night offered CESAR another valuable opportunity to communicate complex safety topics to the wider public and show how experimental research can contribute to safer technologies and systems.
